About SCP

About SCP

At Steilacoom Cooperative Preschool, we proudly serve the families and children of Steilacoom, Lakewood, DuPont, JBLM, and surrounding communities.

Our preschool provides a safe, caring, and nurturing environment where children and families can thrive. Affiliated with Bates Technical College, we follow the Clover Park School Schedule, ensuring we are aligned with local weather-related emergencies, school cancellations, and holidays.

Our cooperative preschool model involves parents working alongside our dedicated teacher, creating a unique and collaborative learning experience. This participation not only makes tuition more affordable but also enriches the educational experience for every child. Every parent’s involvement is vital to the success of our program, ensuring the growth and development of each child who walks through our doors.

play-based Philosophy:

At Scp we believe in the power of play as the foundation for learning. Our philosophy centers around the idea that children learn best through play. Play fosters creativity, critical thinking, and social skills, allowing children to explore the world around them in a safe and engaging environment.

We also recognize that parents are their children’s first and best teachers. Parental involvement is crucial in a child’s early education, and our cooperative model encourages active parent participation. By working together, parents and the teacher create a supportive community that nurtures the growth and development of each child.

In our play-based approach, children are given the freedom to explore, imagine, and discover. We provide a variety of hands-on activities that stimulate curiosity and foster a love for learning. Through play, children develop essential skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

Our commitment to a play-based philosophy and active parental involvement ensures that every child receives a rich, well-rounded educational experience, setting the stage for future success.
